I love how Sarah Jakes Roberts is so humble! It really inspires me!
As she shares in this clip, before she gets up and preaches in front of everybody, she says to God,
"If You don't want me to do this, then don't show up."
And, as she says, if that were to happen, then that would be the last time she ever preached.
Versus trying to look good in front of the people or put on a show or something.
She knows she has nothing if God doesn't show up, and she doesn't want Him to even show up if she's not doing what she's supposed to be doing. I love that!
"Not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord." — Zechariah 4:6
This concept of, "God, I have nothing without you" and "It's not even about the people, it's about You" reminds me of Psalm 73:25-26 —
"Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
As this verse says, "God is the strength of our heart," which relates back to Zechariah 4:6 — it's not by our own strength or might but by the Spirit of the Lord.
May He show up if we are doing what we're supposed to be doing. And if not, then Lord, please readjust us and redirect us
to where Your grace can flow through us like a mighty River. 🌊
