The Power of the Cross

I was flipping through the digital pages of a Chala Handbags catalog I’m featured in, trying to find a certain type of photo for a casting, and I prayed something like, “God, I don't have time right now to go through all these pages. Please just lead me to a good one!” And I landed on this pic — the most important one of all.

The one about the Cross. ✝️

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18). And in The Passion Translation: “To preach the message of the cross seems like sheer nonsense to those who are on their way to destruction, but to us who are being saved, it is the mighty power God released within us.” 🕊

If I could represent one thing in all my modeling and acting, this would be the thing: Jesus Christ and Him crucified (1 Corinthians 2:2).

Not much is told in the Bible about what Jesus looked like, though the Word does say there was nothing special in his physical appearance that would draw people to Him (Isaiah 53:2).

Still, He was the perfect model — the model of love. The world has a lot to say about what “love” is, but Jesus showed us perfect, true, agape love.

He showed us the Cross.

I believe that genuine love is to want the best for another (and be willing to take action to make it happen) regardless of the outcome to ourselves. May we all live out the love that He showed us on the Cross, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Ask Him to fill you and help you.

He will be the love within you, as you, through you. Christ in you.

The Christ of the Cross.
